Ebert and Roeper, Move Over!

I'm amidst a time of great joy! Becky L. and little Erica are visiting me for the week! It's a blast!

Last night, we (well, not Erica, she stayed home w/ her grandparents) went to see a movie at the movie theaters. Actually... we saw two! We never get to go, we're just too busy. So we decided to splurge and see two!

We've wanted to see Harry Potter ever since it came out into theaters. We are obsessed with the books! So, we decided to see that and another one. We wanted to also see King Kong, Memoirs of a Geisha, Fun With Dick and Jane, and The Family Stone. Tee deciding factor was what could we see immediately before or after Harry Potter. The only one that would work was Memoirs of a Geisha. I am SOOOO glad that we saw that one. It was amazing!

Becky and I were inspired to write a post in honor of wonderful movies. So here are the questions:

1) What is the best movie you've ever seen? It entertained you, touched you in some profound way.

2) What's the worst movie you've ever seen? You know, the kind that when it's over, you feel that your life has been enormously depleted. It was just a complete waste of your time. You'll never be the same again. A little part of you died during that awful 2 hour time span.

PS There may be some disagreement between you. Please do not get offended and do not purposefully cause offense. Thank you!

The movie i've hated THE MOST, the one that afterwards i said: "I CANT BELIEVE I WASTED MY PRECIOUS TIME WATCHING THIS!" was 'the perfect storm.'

COME ON! they died in the end. So what was the stupid point of the movie? Its not like 'titanic,' that everyone knows about the historic event. Its about some nobodies who get stuck out at sea in their dumb boat. Seriously. Why did i watch it?

grrr.

I really want to see Memoirs of a Geisha! have you read the book?

I've seen a lot of bad movies but so bad that I don't even remember the names :S I did however see King Kong recently and thought it was pretty good!

I HATED "Lost in Translation." It was the worst movie I've ever seen. It confused me / enraged me that it won so many awards.

I love the Matrix, all 3 of them. I hated The English Patient (1996). My wife loved this movie but it made my eyes bleed.

Ok, so I guess porn is not the genre you were considering here. I will leave that one alone, not that I watch porn.
Best movie....Sands of Iwo Jima. Black and white with John Wayne as the hero in the greatest Marine battle of all time, does it get any better than that?
Worst movie...other than Happy Gilmore....anything with Adam Sandler....his voice irritates the very being of my soul to the point of choosing hell over heaven...just to be rid of it..

lots of good input everyone! makes me want to see more movies!
~Tickneen: sorry, i like the english patient. But i can see why you didnt. Its not really a guy movie.
~Michaela: i was upset with love actually also. Its such a great movie; i loved it-- except for the parts to which you are refering. I'm not quite sure WHY thats in there.
~Linny: you liked the family stone? i really wanted to see it too, but didnt have the time.
~Sdit: i loved Big Fish too. Really, i love just about everything that Tim Burton does. Which is why i liked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
~Casually Me: Yeah, we aim to try to keep this blog (comments included) as clean as possible. So thanks for not going into that whole deal.

Well the rest of the movie was beautiful (loved Charlie)...but didn't veer much from the original in story line and character.
The stark difference was Willy Wonka...Johnny Depp as everyone compared him to Micheal Jackson...I thought was pretty accurate.
He creeped me out...I would never leave my child in someone like his care (if i had a child) =).
The original Willy wonka was quirky but not creepy.

I still have to watch Corpse Bride...any comments on that one?
