Pretty, Pretty Princess

So, I've realized I have finally gotten to the point in life where I seem to have time on my hands! How great is that! So I'm going to try to start the whole blogger thing again. Hopefully it'll stick!

So, I've decided to spoil myself and go to Barnes and Noble once a week. I get my amazing Starbuck's coffee (most, if not all, Barnes' have a Starbucks in them), grab a book, and sit in a comfy chair and read for 4 or 5 hours. It's great! I've been going normally Wednesdays, as soon as the school day is over. I'll read, then write down what page I've left off at, then go back the following week to finish it. It is SOOOO relaxing!

I heard once that going to Barnes is a great place to pick up guys. Hmmmm... It quite possible may be true. The one night, I sat and was reading my book. There was a very attractive guy sitting in the chair across from me. At one point, he started talking to me. Every half hour or so, we'd talk about our books. Well, some random guy came up to him, and was like, "Dude, do I know you from somewhere?" and hottie replied, "you do look familiar. Not sure where though." THey talked a bit about where they grew up, etc. Then hottie said, in an attempt to get rid of him, said, "I'm sure it'll come to you later," and wierd guy left. Hottie and I talked about how odd that was. We wnet back to reading. Half an hour or so later, wierd guy comes back. He's adimant that he knows him somehow. They talk. Hottie says he's a personal trainer, and weird guy wants to loose weight. So hottie gives the guy his phone number, and guy left. Then hottie started in on how he shouldn't have given guy his number. What if the guy turns into a needy stalker? At this point, I think to myself, well, guess I won't ask for his number. He'll think I'm a needy stalker girl. Who picks up guys at book stores, anyway, right? Ah, well. The dream was fun while it lasted!

Then another time, I went back. I sat near this cute African American guy. He was dressed like he was from the 'hood or something. But the book he was reading was the most shoking thing in the world. He was reading a book from the Princess Diaries series! How strange! So I avoided talking to him... He's probably gay and in denial!

So the question is, where is the best place to pick up a guy or girl? Where is (or was) your "playing field?"

And, is that guy gay? Or is he just in touch with his feminine side? ... The world may never know!

Death of a Salesman

So, I've heard that's a good play and all- D. of a SM. Never read it though. (It is a play, right?)

Regardless, I thought it a good title for my newest, last post.

Give myself a grand finale of sorts.

But this isn't going to be grand, just a finale. I didn't want people to stumble across this blog and say- I wonder where this chick went to. Or my old fans to wonder if I died all of a sudden. Though, those people also know that Becky L is my sister, and she still writes about me occassionally.

I just got too busy with life in general. No, I didn't get swept off my feet by Prince Charming... not even by Prince Not-Quite-So-Charming-But-Will-Do. (Didn't you know the the S in Abigail S means Single?)

Nothing at all exciting. I'm working 2 jobs, teaching Kindergarten and working at a women's clothing store. Crazy Busy!

One awesome thing- for my old peeps, if they ever wander back. I finally moved out of my parents'! Now I live w/ anotehr teacher from my school, only 5 minutes away from the school! No more hour drives every day! ... Though my second job is an hour away... but that's only 3x a week, not everyday.

You may be thinking "Why don't you just delete this blog?" Well, here's why. I hold the smallest glimmer of hope that one day I may get to the point where I can pick it back up. "Cuz (as cocky as it may sound) I think this is a great blog! A very unique idea. So, that's that!

Well, goodbye my friends. Til we meet again! Kiss, kiss, hug, hug.

Cars

This post is in honor of the new Disney movie: Cars!

So, I like my car. It's been faithful to me. Listen to these great stories about how my car got my back.

After I graduated college May '05, I drove by myself from Georgia to Pennsylvania. That's about a 13 hour drive. Not a single problem during the trip. It was a smooth ride! I get home, park my car, and unpack my stuff. The very next morning, not 12 hours later, I went to go to the store, and I had a flat tire! Isn't that awesome! I was so thankful that it was after my trip, and not somewhere in Virginia.

Then more recently, Becky and I drove down to Georgia for a wedding. This was oh, 2 months ago. Trip was fine. The day after we got back, my car died. So sad, yet at least it wasn't in Virginia!

So, now let's practice some math. Before this recent trip to GA, a little light saying "O/D OFF" came on. Having never seen it before, I took it in to the garage. Sometimes, that comes on when a car needs a transmission fluid change. I spent $85 on that. The next day, the light came on again. I took the car back to the same place. They did some "tests" and said that "blaa" needed to be fixed- $275(I forget what was wrong). A week or so after the $275 bill, I left for Georgia with my sis, as mentioned above. Well, while in GA, I realized I was overdue for an oil change, so I got that done- $40ish. While there, the rednecks (no offense) pocked a hole in the pan that holds the precious transmission fluid that I had just replaced. All the trip home, I leaked fluid. And like I said, the day after I got back from GA, my car broked. I had to replace the fluid again (3/4 had leaked out) and replace the pan. Total of around $460. Well, 3 weeks later, I had to get state inspection done, plus yet another oil change. This was $95. Then (oh yes, there is another 'then!') I noticed my car had this yucky smell if I drove it more than 10 minutes. And it started jerking and shaking. So I took it into the car hospital yet again. They had to replace something inside the transmission itself. That bill was $2,100! Eek! I got my car back. They said my car should be good for several years now. THEN! 4 days later, my "service engine soon" light came on. What now! Well, I took it in yet again, ready for a fight. Here they did something wrong or something. They acceptable resposibility for it, and fixed it for free. Darn tootin'!

Calculator, please. Hmmm, add this, then that, that, and... grand total of around $3,055!

Good times!

The New Beer

I get a kick out of all these alcoholic beverage commercials out now. They all have a tiny note on the bottom of the screen that says stuff like "drink responsibly" or "only in moderation." Some even venture to say the given words out loud, though quickly and very quietly!

The best one the I've seen is for... Oh crap! I forget one kind of drink it was for... ah well. I can still describe the commercial. It was at a fancy-shmancy party, and there was a guy pigging out on the shrimp coctail. It was actually kinda gross looking... Any the spokesperson comes out and says "The same thing about shrimp coctail is true of all coctails... Always in moderation." Hillarious! I laugh every time!

Well, just now I was watching a movie on TV... And I saw a commercial that made me giggle and gave me a great idea for a post. It was for Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate (beautiful stuff!). And I noticed on the bottom of the screen was written the words: "enjoy in moderation." I about lost it! I thought- "What?! Is chocolate the new beer?!"

So, here's the question- Some people love dark chocolate, others HATE it. Which are you? When you get a bag of assorted mini Hershey candy bars, which do you gobble up first? The Krackle, Mr. Goodbar, Milk Choc, Special Dark Choc? Do you mix it up, eating a few of each? Of eat all the Mr. Goodbar, and then move on to the Krackle. Or do you detest all things chocolate?

Well, whatever your answer, remember:

ENJOY IN MODERATION!

Life happened!

As you can tell, I took a little hiatus from the world of blogdom. Why? Life happened. That's my newest phrase.

I'm a teacher, so I was busy with end of the school year stuff. There was a trip to Georgia over Memorial Day weekend, the Kidergarten graduation to plan and prepare for, trying to get a summer job, my car died on me (took $450 to fix), a trip to Iowa, starting my summer job, etc. etc. etc.

By the by, I LOVE my summer job! I'm working at a nearby Dress Barn, a clothing store for women. It is great, and I'm good at it, too! My job is to actively help the customers. You know how at some stores, the workers say "hi," and that's it? Well, at DB, I help women find the perfect outfit, or hopefully outfits! When they are done shopping, I am supposed to ring up them up personally. The computer keeps count of how much money each worker sells. The more I sell, the more hours I get.

Well, I am awesome at doing all that! I'll be helping five customers at once. I bring in the money! Each day, we have a $ goal, usually between 400 and 500. I always reach above my goal. On Saturday, I was the top sales person at over $1200! I rock!

Well, there's no question for today, just this update. I'll try to post regularly now. And visit yall's blogs, too!

These are a few of my favorite things...

girls in white dresses with red satin sashes
snowflakes that fall on my nose and eyelashes
brown paper packages tied up with string
THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS!!!

okay, so i probably completely messed up the lyrics. So sorry. however, the concept remains... What are some of your favorite things?

Especially in regards to summertime! Okay, so many bloggers live in various parts of the country/world. So your climates are vastly different from Pennsylvania. Oh well. The question still will remain: what are some of your favorite summer things???

I like picnics in parks :-) Though i've rarely done this in the past few years. I do hope to this summer though. Its just so much fun. Take a blanket, sit on the grass, enjoy the warm weather and nice breeze.

What's your favorite things?
