The Ups and Downs of Finales

Tis the season... when season finales are coming around on tv. Some of them are terrible- they leave you with a huge cliff-hanger of an ending, like "Oh crap! My favorite character might be dead!"

Then there's the great season finales- they leave off on a happy side, having your wildest fantasies come true.

And you have some that do both. So I'd call them "So-Sos" or some such word.

But despite which kind of season finale it is, they all have one common suckiness in common- You have to wait until September to find out what happens next! Talk about torture. Plus having to deal with reruns all summer long!

So, I absolutely LOVE the tv show "The Office" on NBC. It is so freakin' funny! But the main reason I love it is because of the underlying love triangle of Roy, Pam, and Jim. Pam has dated Roy since high school, and they are now engaged. Pam and Jim are best friends at "the office." Jim secretly loves Pam, and Pam secretly loves Jim, but she feels stuck. (None of this is ever said outloud- Just in certain looks, etc.) Well, on Thursday's season finale... Jim tells Pam that he loves her... She says she just sees him as a friend. He sheds a tear and leaves. (Boy broke my heart!) Well, she goes and calls Mommy dearest and sounds all confused. Jim walks in, Pam hangs up the phone, and without saying anything, Jim goes right up to her and kisses her. She, in turn, kisses him back. I started cheering! It's about time! And then it ended. So, it was a happy ending. But it sucks having to wait until September to see what happens next- does she dump Roy, regret kissing Jim, run away scared? Who knows! But for now- I'm sticking with the "excited" bit.

Then, you have your series finales. Those suck, cuz you hate to see a good show go. But at the same time... Now you have some closure. It'll be sad to see Alias, West Wing, and Will & Grace go.

There are some good summer series on. TNT has an awesome one called "The Closer" and USA has a show called "The 4400," which is AMAZING!!! If you've never seen "The 4400," get it on DVD. I promise you that you'll love it! The 1st season only had 5 episodes. The 2nd seson had 12. The third season is starting June 11th. I'm so excited! It's about 4400 people who were abducted over the period of 50 (or so) years. Then, all at one time, they all reappear. The government is trying to figure out what happened and what to do with these people, especially when it becomes apparent that many of them have "special powers." Season 2 left with a HUGE cliff-hanger. So I'm glad it starts up again soon.

Well, share your thoughts on season finales. Any good ones, bad ones, so-so ones? Let's hear it!

I thought the grand finale of Six Feet Under was the best I've ever seen.

gregorison's girl-- you're right, but its painful to admit. Of course its not gonna work out like we all want it to...

HOWEVER-- at the momment i'm THRILLED with how the Office ended the season. Golly, i love that show. its Hillarious!!!

Crossing Jordan was so-so. On the super-fantastic side, Bug and Lilly finally hooked up. Thank goodness!!! On the crappy side, it left you completely hanging about whether Jordan would be able to solve the crime.

Other finales??? mmm... i'm looking forward to Will and Grace. yeah... i never watched the show before. But when i found out that it was in its last season, i started watching. Now i'm REALLY sitting on the edge of my seat, waiting to see how its gonna all end.

I'm such a putz... Last Thursday, Becky L. asked me to tape The Office for her... There was a thunderstorm and she was afraid her electricity would cut out. So, like a good sister, I taped it for her. Well, since then, I've watched it 4 times already! I LOVE it!

And I'm serious about The 4400. Yall NEED to check it out! It's totally amazing! I'm not a sci-fi person, but I still LOVE it!

The Office is classic funny stuff, almost due more to the unsaid things than the verbal things.

Anyways, I think they goofed with Jim and Pam because, where do they go from here? The characters were great and enjoyable because of the nervous tension. Now it's a soap opera. Even though everyone in the world wanted them to get together, myself included, I didn't like the ending. It seems their relationship will be too serious now, and The Office should be anything but serious.
